Your eyes are glazed over after staying up half the night putting together toys and gadgets to “wow” the kids for the holidays. As you’re about to collapse onto the sofa for a nice nap, you remember that you promised to make the kids their favorite breakfast! Whoa! Now, you really need your morning coffee! You reach inside the dishwasher for a coffee mug, and you notice obvious water spots all over the cup. Not just a few, the whole thing is covered in spots! Hmm…what’s going on? You go over and open the dishwasher to see if something is wrong, and everything seems fine. So now what? You begin to break out in a cold sweat as your mind races to some hasty solutions:
| 1. |
Go ahead, use the dirty dishes. How dirty can they be? Okay, never mind. |
| 2. |
Pull that stunt from the movies where you throw the dishes like Frisbees into the fireplace…no, probably not. |
Maybe it’s time for a reality check…
Don’t let this happen to you! If you had done a dishwasher inspection before the holidays, you might have been able to prevent this from happening. You can still do the inspection; here are some things to look for, along with some real solutions:
| 1. |
Was the dishwasher properly loaded? – Get out your owner’s manual and read the section called: “How to properly load your dishwasher”. Believe it or not, there are some “tricks” that can make a huge difference in how the machine cleans your dishes. |
| 2. |
Is there a hole in the silverware basket? This allows pieces of silverware to fall through and catch on the wash arm as it tries to turn, preventing it from doing its job. Go to the Find Parts tab on the website and order a new silverware basket. |
| 3. |
Is something else going on? There are a variety of other problems that could be occurring, such as pump or drain problems, rusty racks, hard water, and more. For more detailed assistance, go to the website and either follow the prompts for Repair Help or send an email to the RepairGuru. |
