| Now's
the time to maintain your dryer! |
 |
|
| |
A few simple steps
will prevent costly repairs
Improper
air flow is a leading cause of dryer failure.
Venting that is too long, plugged with lint,
or too small in diameter causes long dry
times and excessive wear on internal components.
Make sure your venting is not plugged and
is as short as possible. Use a dryer vent
brush to remove lint build up in the vent.
We offer 10
ft. and 20
ft. dryer vent brushes,
which work great for this messy task.
|
|
| |
A
restricted blower or lint trap housing also
reduces air flow, which may lead to poor
drying results. Make sure this area is clear.
If your lint filter has any holes or shows
other signs of wear, you should
replace it right away. Just enter your model number
into our Part
Detective to find the exact replacement
lint filter for your dryer.
If your dryer vent is white vinyl, replace
it with a rigid or semi-rigid aluminum vent.
(White vinyl ducts no longer meet building
codes.) You can find replacement
aluminum ducts in our washer
and dryer accessories section.

One customer's dryer repair success story
When Stan
Shilling's dryer stopped heating, he knew
how to fix it, but he needed help finding
the right replacement part.
"First, I cleaned out the air duct,
which was clogged with stuff left in clothing
pockets, including nails, screws, etc.,"
said Shilling.
"Then, I determined the safety thermostat
was cutting out after the initial firing
of the gas heater."
|
|
| |
"I
found the thermostat at a local parts dealer
but had to wait almost four weeks to have
it delivered. In the meantime, I was able
to bypass the faulty thermostat but found
an additional problem. The heater would
operate a little longer but still cut out
after initial firing."
Knowing he could save at least $150 by making
the repair himself, Shilling went online
to find a replacement solenoid.
"I found RepairClinic.com very organized,
and it was easy to find the right part,"
he said. "The information on the web
site was definitely a help in finding the
right part."
Shilling placed his order, received the
part a few days later and made the repair
himself. "I still had to wait for the
thermostat, which I ordered locally, after
I received the solenoid from RepairClinic.com.
Next time, I'll know to order everything
from RepairClinic.com, and save some time
and money."

In celebration of Black History Month, we'd
like to highlight one of America's most important
inventors. George T. Sampson patented a clothes
dryer in 1892. He also patented a sled propeller
in 1885. |
