Make sure your dryer vent pipe is made of aluminum. The white vinyl duct that was common years ago no longer meets most building codes - your dryer may ignite it, starting a fire in your home.
School has started! You’re already having visions of smelly soccer uniforms, muddy football jerseys and grass-stained cheerleading outfits. And the “I wore this for two hours—please wash it now” kids laundry plan is about to kick in. But your dryer is broken, and your life is about to get very complicated. What should you do?

Here is some free dryer advice from the RepairGuru at RepairClinic.com:
The most common cause for slow dry times is a plugged exhaust vent. To check this, remove the vent from the back of your dryer and dry a load of laundry. If the dry time is normal, the vent is plugged, and a quick cleaning with a dryer vent brush will immediately improve drying times.
In electric dryers, the heating element can burn out - the dryer may continue to tumble, but won't heat. Check the element using an Ohm meter. Replacing the element is usually a simple repair. Find the correct replacement using the PartDetective.
Gas dryers have glow-style igniters that are very fragile and can fail, causing the burner not to ignite. The igniter can be tested for continuity using an Ohm meter. Accessing and replacing the igniter is usually a simple repair. The PartDetective can help you.
