Check water hoses annually for signs of wear or weakness. Even a small blister in the hose could cause a rupture.
Manufacturers recommend replacing hoses every five years. Replace them with high quality stainless steel fill hoses.
You try over and over again to get your washing machine to do what it’s supposed to do: Wash, Rinse, Spin. Isn’t that what the dial says? But somehow the “Spin” step is missing. That wouldn’t be so bad, but every time you reach into your machine to take out the clothes, they’re sopping wet! Something’s just not right here!
What’s going on? Here are a few possibilities:
The machine thinks “spin” involves a stationary bike and an overly enthusiastic exercise instructor
The machine thinks “spin” involves dancing, but can’t find a partner
Okay, maybe not…so what’s really happening?
The lid switch may be defective. If it is, the washing machine won’t spin. The switch is inside the washing machine main housing near the door frame. Often you have to raise or open the top or front of the washing machine to get to the switch. If it's defective, it needs to be replaced.
The motor coupler may be broken. Many direct drive washing machines that don’t have a drive belt use a small, inexpensive motor coupler. It's plastic and rubber and is mounted to the shaft of the motor on one side, and to the transmission on the other. If you have this type of washer, and it is pumping out the water but not spinning, you may need to replace the coupler.
A belt may be broken. If you have a belt-driven washing machine, click here for more information.
