Get
your kitchen appliances ready for the
holidays |
 |
|
| |
Thanksgiving
is only weeks away, but there's still time
to get your kitchen appliances ready for
the holidays.
Range/Stove/Oven
Clean your self-cleaning oven now.
Since ovens are more likely to fail
during and just after a self-cleaning
cycle, clean yours now in case you
need time for a repair. For more detailed
information about how to use your
oven's self-cleaning feature safely
and effectively, click here.
Make
your range look new again with new
drip pans and burners. Use
our PartDetective
to find the exact drip pans and burners
for your model range. |
|
You can also clean any porcelain stovetop
or glass range/oven control panel
with a non-abrasive cleanser or glass
cleaner. Watch out for some "cream
type" cleansers as they often
have tiny abrasive particles in them,
which can damage your stovetop or
control panel. RepairClinic.com recommends
Appliance
Polish & Cleaner for
safe cleaning. |
|
Refrigerator
Now's
a good time to clean your refrigerator's
door seals so they don't stick to
the door frame and tear. Use an
old toothbrush and a little dish
soap and water to clean all the
nooks and crannies. Use a bit of
diluted bleach to clean away any
mold or mildew.
To reduce odors inside your refrigerator
or freezer, be sure to cover all
foods well and put onions, garlic
and other strong smelling foods
in sealed bags.
|
|
RepairClinic.com also suggests Fridge
Aid, a high quality activated
charcoal air filter, to help combat
odors. |
Dishwasher
If
your dishwasher isn't getting dishes
clean enough, there may not be enough
water entering the machine during
the fill cycle. After the dishwasher
fills, check inside to see if there
is water covering the entire bottom
of the dishwasher floor. If not, replace
the water inlet valve. You can order
the one for your dishwasher using
the PartDetective. |
|
Also, repair your worn dishwasher
rack tines to prevent rust pieces
from ruining the pump. Before making
a repair, be sure to clean up the
rusted spots on the dishwasher rack
with household sandpaper to make the
repair last much longer. Repair kits
for light blue, gray and white tines
are available in our dishwasher
accessories section. |

We've
built a new customer response system to
get you the information you need faster.
The system answers repair questions and
replies to customer service issues based
on your particular situation.
For example, if you have a repair question
about your refrigerator that is not addressed
in our Repair Help section, you can go the
"Contact Us" page. From there,
you'll be asked to log in and type in the
brand and model number of your refrigerator.
Next you'll see a list of common repair
issues specific to your refrigerator. If
your question is not addressed at this point,
you can type in a description of your particular
problem, and a message will be sent to our
RepairGuru. The RepairGuru will then respond
to your specific inquiry.
The customer response system also deals
with customer service issues. You can make
inquiries and receive replies about order
cancellations, parts that arrived damaged,
part availability and order status. Once
you log in, all this information is just
a few keystrokes away.
Of course you always have the option to
call us about customer service issues, but
our representatives use the very same system
available to you online. Therefore, you'll
get your information much faster by logging
in, and you have the added advantage of
being able to access our system 24 hours
a day, 365 days a year. Please note, our
customer service representatives do not
provide technical advice over the phone.

filter we sell, so now's a great time
to stock up. Check out our newly expanded
water
filter accessory section

Or,
use the PartDetective
to find the exact water filter for
your refrigerator and/or ice maker.

Fun fact |
| |
When
cutting onions, a chemical called 'Suberin'
is released. This irritates the eyes and causes
watering. This chemical is sensitive to heat.
Therefore if you cut onions near your stove,
the irritation will be less. |
