RepairClinic.com to the rescue...
One customer's holiday success story

Eric Barnes does a lot of baking during the holiday season, which he ships to friends and family all over the country. This annual tradition was threatened last year when his oven broke.

"I called numerous repair shops in the area," said Barnes, "but they said it was going to be at least three days before they could look at the oven and another week until they could fix it."

That's when Barnes decided to try to find help on the Internet and came across RepairClinic.com.

"I had an idea the igniter was bad, and I confirmed my suspicions with a quick email to RepairClinic.com's RepairGuru. Then, as recommended, I ordered a new igniter kit and had the kit in my hand in two days.

"With the guidance and instruction I received from the RepairGuru, I was able to make the repair in less than an hour."

Barnes' oven worked like new again, and he was able to complete his holiday baking on schedule.

"Plus, I'm sure I saved over $100 by fixing the oven myself," he added.

  Appliance fun fact
Josephine Cochran invented the dishwasher in 1886. Expecting it to catch on with housewives, she unveiled it at the 1893 World's Fair, but only hotels and large restaurants bought into the idea. It wasn't until the 1950s that dishwashers caught on with the general public. Cochran founded a company to manufacture her hand-operated mechanical dishwashers. That company later became KitchenAid, which is now owned by Whirlpool.

d. Solenoid
1. A resilient or flexible material used between mating surfaces to provide a leak-proof seal.
2. An electro-mechanical switch that diverts current when the flow is changed or when an external current is applied.
3. Part of the refrigeration system where refrigerant evaporates, absorbing heat from the surrounding area. Sometimes mistaken as the point where the drain pan evaporates condensate water.
4. An electro-mechanical device that produces a magnetic field to move an internal metallic plunger when power is supplied. When power to the electromagnet is discontinued, the plunger is free again to move by other forces. This plunger can be attached to other devices, such as levers or seals, to do mechanical work. This arrangement is commonly used in water fill valves, dishwasher drain valves, range door lock mechanisms and dryer gas valves.
