for gadget lovers

Electronic meat thermometer
For safe holiday cooking, RepairClinic.com recommends Polder's high-quality, automatic, timer/electronic meat thermometer. It takes the guesswork out of cooking turkey, ham and other meats and also works great for testing soup and stew temperatures. Get it here.
10-in-1 screwdriver/nut driver
This is a great tool with many applications. Made by Klein Tools, it comes with a lifetime warranty and includes the following tips: 1/4-inch and 5/16-inch nut drivers, #1 (standard small) and #2 (standard medium) Phillips, 1/4-inch and 3/16-inch slotted, #10 and #15 Torx and #1 and #2 square. Get it here.
Kill-a-Watt meter
Use the Kill-a-Watt meter to track total power consumption by the hour, day, week, month or year for any standard household appliance that plugs into a 110 volt outlet. Also use it to check computers, table lamps and most other devices that plug into standard wall receptacles. The Kill-a-Watt meter displays voltage (V), line frequency (Hz), and power factor (PF). There are no batteries required. Get it here.
Hygrometer
This Bemis hygrometer is a calibrated digital humidity and temperature gauge. It measures humidity in a range from 10% to 99% and temperature from 14 degrees to 122 degrees Fahrenheit (-10 degrees to 50 degrees Celsius). It has a table stand and a wall mount. Get it here.

Note: It's extremely important to maintain the proper humidity in your home. Humidity levels affect your health and the structure of your home. In addition, high humidity levels can cause mold and mildew growth within the walls of your house. What's the proper humidity level for your home? It depends on a lot of factors. We found the following article by the Cold Climate Housing Information Center at the University of Minnesota very helpful. You can read it here.
FloodStop
Prevent major water damage with FloodStop. Simply attach FloodStop to your water supply line, and it will automatically shut off the water to your washer if there is a leak. It takes just five minutes to install. Get it here.
