Shear Bolt and Nut - Part # 1773118 Mfg Part # 53200500

Shear Bolt and Nut

RepairClinic Item # 1773118

If the snowblower auger won't turn the shear bolt and nut may have failed. The shear bolt is a metal bolt that slides through the auger axle sleeve to lock it in place with the auger drive axle. If the auger hits a rock or other object, the shear bolt is designed to cut in half and fall out in order to protect the auger, gearbox and other components. If the auger won't turn, check to see if the shear bolt is in place and intact. If not, replace it.

Sometimes the bearing can be freed up to work temporarily, but that fix is usually temporary.
