Shear Pin - Part # 1726965 Mfg Part # 710-0891

Shear Pin

RepairClinic Item # 1726965

If the snowblower auger won't turn the shear pin may have failed. The shear bolt is a metal bolt that slides through the auger axle sleeve to lock it in place with the auger drive axle. If the auger hits a rock or other object, the shear bolt is designed to cut in half and fall out in order to protect the auger, gearbox and other components. If the auger won't turn, check to see if the shear bolt is in place and intact. If not, replace it.

Bearing - Part # 1842940 Mfg Part # 941-04024

Bearing

RepairClinic Item # 1842940

If the auger won't turn one or more of the bearings might have seized. Most bearings are permanently lubricated and don't require maintenance. If yours has a grease fitting, fresh grease should be added according to the manufacturers instructions. Once the bearing seizes it will have to be replaced. Sometimes the bearing can be freed up to work temporarily, but that fix is usually temporary.
