Dryer Parts

Dryer belt. This is the most common belt used on Whirlpool, Kenmore, Kitchenaid, Roper, Estate and other dryer brands. The belt is flat, 92-1/4 inches long, 1/4 inch wide and has 4 ribs and 3 grooves. It replaces many other belts, including some with 5 ribs and 4 grooves.

Gas burner valve solenoids. Kit contains both the two wire and three wire solenoids. One solenoid is the primary and one is the safety. Both have to operate for the gas valve to open. Usually, one of them burns out but you should always replace them as a set.

These often fail intermittently, making diagnosis difficult. To test, watch the burner assembly while the dryer is heating. If the igniter glows for a while and then shuts off without the gas turning on, it usually means one of these coils is bad.

Thermal fuse. If the dryer overheats, this device stops the flow of electricity to the heat source and/or the entire dryer. It is located on the blower housing and cannot be reset. The most common cause for overheating is a vent tube clogged with lint, a birds nest or other debris.

Dryer drum slide. There are two of these needed on your dryer. These go on the outer most slots on the front bearing.

The drum slides support the front of the dryer drum instead of rollers or bearings. As they wear out the dryer will make more noise.

Dryer heating element assembly, 220 volts. When the element burns out it must be replaced, it cannot be repaired.
