Before you replace the recoil starter on your chainsaw first make sure the chainsaw’s engine has cooled.

Next, release the top cover clips and lift the cover off.

Remove the wire and boot from the spark plug to prevent the chainsaw from starting accidentally.

Now, set the chainsaw on its side and remove the screws securing the recoil starter assembly.

Pull the old starter assembly off.

Install the new recoil starter assembly by aligning it on the housing.

Replace the screws to secure.

Attach the wire and boot to the spark plug.

Realign the top cover and secure it with the clips.
