Step By Step Instructions

Before you replace the ignition coil on your chainsaw first make sure the chainsaw’s engine has cooled.

Next, release the top cover clips and lift the cover off.

Remove the wire and boot from the spark plug to prevent the chainsaw from starting accidentally.

Now, set the chainsaw on its side and remove the screws securing the recoil starter assembly.

Pull the starter assembly off.

Lift off the flywheel cover and detach it from the ignition coil wires.

Remove the mounting screws securing the old ignition coil.

Detach the remaining wire to fully release the old coil.

You’re now ready to install the new ignition coil.

Making sure the spacers are in place on the cylinder head, align the new coil on the spacers.

Position the grounding wire and secure the assembly loosely with the screws.

Make sure the magnets are rotated out of the way, then pull the coil back and tighten the screws.

Now, rotate the flywheel so the magnets align with the coil.

Insert a business card and loosen the screws to align the coil the correct distance from the flywheel.

Re-tighten the screws and remove the business card.

Connect the second wire to the coil.

Realign the flywheel cover and snap it into position then route the wires into the channels on the cover.

Replace the recoil starter assembly and replace the screws to secure.

Attach the wire and boot to the spark plug.

Realign the top cover and secure it with the clips.
