Step By Step Instructions

To replace the oil filter on your pole pruner, first confirm that there is little or no oil left in the oil tank.

Next, loosen the locking nut then unscrew the knob securing the lower drive shaft.

Depress the alignment pin to fully release the lower drive shaft.

Now set the pruner head on a sturdy surface and remove the mounting screws securing the oil tank.

Use a flathead screwdriver to help pry the tank off of the oil tube and remove the tank.

Be prepared for some oil to spill.

Now remove the oil cap and use the screwdriver to pry out the fitting.

Use pliers to carefully pull out the filter tube.

Remove the old filter from the tube.

Install the new oil filter by twisting it counter-clockwise onto the filter tube.

Insert the filter and tube into the tank and use needle-nose pliers to fully seat the tube.

Rotate the tube to make sure the filter is facing towards the bottom of the tank.

Replace the fitting and the oil cap.

Replace the tank by inserting the fitting into the oil tube.

Fully position the tank then replace the mounting screws to secure.

Insert the lower drive shaft into the upper drive shaft until the alignment pin snaps into place.

Tighten the knob first then tighten the locking nut.
