Before you replace the starter hub spring on your string trimmer and pruner first make sure the engine has cooled.

Next, remove the wire and boot from the spark plug to prevent the engine from accidentally starting.

Remove the screws securing the recoil starter assembly.

Pull the recoil starter off and set it on a sturdy surface.

Now hold the pulley as you remove the starter assembly screw.

Lift off the starter hub and the old starter hub spring.

You’re now ready to install the new starter hub spring.

Position the new spring on the pulley.

Align the starter hub and hold the pulley as you replace the screw to secure.

Confirm that the recoil assembly rotates freely.

Realign the assembly on the main housing.

Replace the screws to secure.

Reattach the wire and boot to the spark plug and your string trimmer and pruner should be ready for use.
