Step-By-Step Instructions1
Before you replace the trimmer line on your string trimmer first remove the wire and boot from the spark plug to prevent the engine from accidentally starting.
2
Keeping your hands clear of the line cutter, depress the two tabs on the trimmer head and pull off the trimmer head housing.
3
Lift out the line spool and remove any remaining line.
4
Install the new trimmer line by first folding the line near the middle making sure one end extends approximately five inches longer than the other end.
5
Make sure the spool is properly oriented then insert the loop into the slit in the spool and wrap the line clockwise around it.
6
Keep the line taut and wrap it evenly on both sides of the central partition.
7
As you near the end of the line, place the short end into one of the notches in the top portion of the spool, allowing approximately six inches of line to be exposed.
8
Continue to wrap the longer end around the spool and slide it into the notch directly opposite the first one.
9
Now insert the spool into the trimmer head housing.
10
While holding the spool in place, release both ends of the line and insert them into the housing notches.
11
Now align the housing tabs and snap the assembly into place.
12
Reattach the wire and boot to the spark plug and your string trimmer should be ready for use.
