Step By Step Instructions

Before you replace the gas tank on your string trimmer and pruner first make sure the engine has cooled and that there is little or no fuel left in the tank.

Next, remove the wire and boot from the spark plug to prevent the engine from accidentally starting.

Remove the screws securing the recoil starter assembly.

Pull the recoil starter off.

Remove the screws securing the top cover and lift the cover off.

Note the orientation of the fuel lines attached to the carburetor and primer bulb then detach them – be prepared for some fuel to spill.

Now remove the mounting screws to release the gas tank.

Prepare the new gas tank for installation by installing a new fuel filter or reusing the old one.

With the fuel filter in place insert the gas cap retainer into the tank then thread the new cap on and tighten.

Fully position the new gas tank.

Secure it with the mounting screws.

Now route the new fuel lines through the engine and connect them to the appropriate ports on the carburetor and the primer bulb.

Realign the top cover and replace the screws to secure.

Realign the recoil starter and replace the screws to secure it.

Reattach the wire and boot to the spark plug.

Add fuel to the new tank and your string trimmer and pruner should be ready for use.
