Step By Step Instructions

As with any repair, you should unplug the power cord before beginning.

To replace the evaporator fan motor in your refrigerator first remove any drawers or shelving from the freezer compartment.

Next, remove the light lens cover.

Now, uninstall the screws securing the rear panel.

Lift the panel up off the mounting tabs and pull the panel out.

Carefully pull the fan blade off of the fan motor.

Disconnect the wires from the motor.

Remove the lower motor mounting bracket to release the old motor.

Install the new evaporator fan motor by aligning it in the mounting bracket.

Now insert the motor shaft through the grommet and snap the lower mounting bracket into the upper mounting bracket.

Connect the wires to the new motor.

Fully seat the fan blade on the motor shaft.

Reposition the rear panel by inserting the top edge under the upper air duct and the bottom edge behind the drip tray.

Make sure the middle of the panel is aligned on the mounting tabs.

Reinstall the screws to secure.

Replace the light lens cover.

Replace the shelving and drawers.

You’re now ready to plug the power cord back in and confirm that the refrigerator is functioning properly.
