Step By Step Instructions

As with any repair, you should unplug the power cord before beginning.

To replace the air damper control assembly in your refrigerator first remove any shelving as necessary.

Next, remove the screw to release the conduit cover.

Remove the screw securing the damper cover and pull the cover off.

Pull the thermostat sensor off of the damper.

Next, open the freezer door and remove the ice bucket.

Now remove the screws securing the auger motor bracket.

Pull the auger motor assembly away from the rear panel, disconnect the wire harness and remove the assembly from the freezer.

Remove the screw securing the rear duct assembly and pull the assembly away from the rear panel.

You can now depress the tabs to release the old air damper control assembly.

Peel back the tape and rotate the assembly to pull it away from the control rod.

You’re now ready to install the new air damper control assembly.

Insert the control rod into the slide bar then rotate the damper and use the tape from the old assembly to cover the hole.

Now align the assembly with the vent hole and snap it into place.

Realign the rear duct assembly in the freezer compartment and replace the screw to secure.

Return the auger motor assembly to the freezer and reconnect the wire harness.

Align the assembly on the mounting posts and replace the screws to secure.

Slide the ice bucket into place.

Align the thermostat sensor with the air vent on the new damper assembly and snap the sensor under the tabs.

Reposition the damper cover and secure it with the screw.

Reposition the conduit cover and reinstall the screw to secure.

Replace any shelving as necessary.

You’re now ready to plug the power cord back in and confirm that the refrigerator is functioning properly.
