Step By Step Instructions

Before you replace the trail shield on your lawn mower first make sure the engine has cooled.

Next, you should remove the wire and boot from the spark plug to prevent the engine from accidentally starting.

You should also remove the grass bag if applicable.

Now lift up the mower and support it with a wood block or a comparable sturdy object.

Use a half-inch socket to unthread the bolts securing the rear wheels and pull both wheels off.

Now, rotate the height adjustment levers out of the way, if necessary and remove the trail shield mounting screws.

If necessary, move the support out of the way and bend the old trail shield to remove.

Install the new trail shield by inserting one end into the rear baffle then bend the shield slightly to insert the opposite end.

Support the mower then reinstall the mounting screws to secure the shield.

Make sure the bolts are inserted into the wheels and the washers are in place then reinstall the rear wheels and tighten the bolts to secure.

If necessary, return the height adjustment levers to the appropriate position.

Remove the support and gently lower the mower to the ground.
