This video provides step-by-step instructions for replacing the pump on Homelite pressure washers. The most common reason for replacing the pump is if it has worn out, causing the pressure washer to have no pressure or to leak water.

All of the information in this pump replacement video is applicable to the following brands: Homelite, Husky, PowerStroke, WorkForce

Tools used: 10mm socket and socket wrench, pinch off pliers, 5/8 in wrench, torque wrench

Step By Step Instructions

1
Before you replace the pump on your pressure washer first make sure the engine and pump have cooled.
2
Next, you should remove the wire and boot from the spark plug and, if applicable, disconnect the hose from the pump inlet.
3
Now, disconnect the high pressure hose.
4
Use locking pliers to crimp the detergent solution tube and detach the tube from the chemical injector.
5
Now remove the nuts and bolts securing the engine and pump to the mounting plate.
6
Remove the old pump.
7
Prepare the new pump for installation by transferring the thermal release valve from the old pump to the new one.
8
Be sure to apply some sealant to the valve threads before installing it on the new pump.
9
Confirm that the pump drive key is in place on the crankshaft then align the notch in the pump with the key and slide the pump onto the crankshaft.
10
Rotate the pump to align the bolt holes then reinsert the bolts and thread the nuts.
11
Once all the bolts are in place, torque the nuts to manufacturer’s specifications.
12
Once installed, remove the cap from the pump outlet port and connect the high pressure hose.
13
Attach the detergent solution tube to the chemical injector and remove the locking pliers
14
You’re now ready to reattach the wire and boot to the spark plug and confirm that the pressure washer is working properly.
