This video provides step-by-step instructions for replacing the middle door switch on GE microwaves. The most common reason for replacing the switch is if the microwave won’t turn on or won't heat.

Tools used: multi-screwdriver, Phillips head bit, T15 Torx bit, flat-head bit
Because of the high voltage and high current used by microwave ovens, be aware that repairing this appliance poses a substantial risk for injury or death if precautions are not taken.
You should always unplug the microwave before you attempt any disassembly.
To replace the middle door switch in your microwave oven open the door and remove the screws securing the grill.
Slide the grill to the left to release it.
Next, remove the screw on the left securing the control panel and loosen the screw behind the panel.
Lift the panel up and pull it forward to detach.
Now remove the screws to release the switch assembly.
Depress the release tab to detach middle switch.
Disconnect the wire connecter to fully release the old switch.
Install the new door switch by first connecting the wire connecter.
Now position the new switch in the assembly and snap it into place.
Realign the switch assembly on the frame and replace the screws to secure.
Reposition the control panel
Tighten the screw behind the panel and replace the screw on the left.
Reposition the grill slide it to the right and replace the screws.
With the repair completed, plug the power cord back in and your microwave oven should be ready for use.
