Step By Step Instructions

As with most repairs, you should shut off the power to the appliance before you begin.

To replace the light socket in your range vent hood first push in on the tabs to release both light covers.

Now unthread the light bulbs.

Use a quarter inch socket to remove the screw securing the control cover.

Pull the cover off.

Next, cut the wires free of the connecters.

Now remove the filter screen.

Pull off the retaining clip and pull the fan blade off.

Cut the zip tie securing the wires to the fan motor bracket.

Reach in and pull the cut wires into the fan housing.

Use a large flathead screwdriver to depress the retaining tab to release the old light socket.

You’re now ready to install the new light socket.

Feed the new wires through into the fan housing and snap the new socket into place.

Route the wires behind the fan motor bracket and through the hole near the front of the fan housing.

Strip off a quarter inch of insulation from the existing wires.

Join the appropriate wires together and secure them with wire nuts.

Realign the control cover and replace the screw to secure.

Thread the light bulbs into the sockets.

Replace both light covers by inserting the tabs into the slots on the fan housing.

Use a zip tie to secure the wires to the fan motor bracket.

Slide the fan blade onto the motor shaft and secure it with the retaining clip.

Replace the filter screen.

With the repair completed, restore power to the range vent hood and confirm that the new light socket works properly.
