Step By Step Instructions

To replace the contactor in your central air condensing unit first shut off the power to the unit.

You can do this by removing the fuses from the disconnect box or switching off the circuit breaker.

Use a 5/16th inch socket to unthread the screws securing the access cover and remove the cover.

Note the location of the wires connected to the old contactor – then disconnect them.

Next, remove the mounting screws to release the old contactor.

Install the new contactor by positioning it on the panel then replace the mounting screws to secure.

Connect the wires to the appropriate terminals on the new contactor.

Realign the access cover and replace the screws to secure.

With the repair completed, restore power to the condensing unit and your central air system should be ready for use.
