Step By Step Instructions

Before you replace the voltage regulator in your generator first make sure the engine has cooled.

Next, you should remove the wire and boot from the spark plug to prevent the engine from accidentally starting.

Use a 5/16th inch socket to remove the screws securing the alternator cover and pull the cover off.

Next, remove the screw to release the voltage regulator connecter.

Cut the zip tie securing the connecter and disconnect it.

Detach the wires from the brush assembly.

Now remove the mounting screws securing the voltage regulator and pull the old regulator free.

Install the new voltage regulator by aligning it on the alternator housing then secure it with the mounting screws.

Connect the wires to the brush assembly and connect the new wire connecter.

Secure the connecter with the new zip tie and trim the excess tie.

Align the connecter on the housing and secure it with the screw.

Replace the alternator cover by aligning it with the wire harness boot then replace the screws to secure.

Reattach the wire and boot to the spark plug and your generator should be ready for use.
