Step By Step Instructions

Before you replace a 120 volt receptacle in your generator first make sure the engine has cooled.

Next, you should remove the wire and boot from the spark plug to prevent the engine from accidentally starting.

Use a 3/8th inch socket with an extension to remove the nuts securing the outlet housing.

Pull the housing free of the bracket and disconnect the power harness.

Now use a phillips-head screwdriver to remove the screws to release the outlet cover.

Use the 3/8th inch socket to remove the nuts securing the receptacle you’re replacing.

Note the orientation of the wires then loosen the screws to release the wires from the old receptacle.

You’re now ready to install the new receptacle.

Align the wires on the appropriate terminals and tighten the screws.

With the wires secured, align the new receptacle on the housing posts and replace the nuts to secure.

Reposition the outlet housing cover and replace the screws to secure.
12
Reconnect the power harness.
13
Reposition the outlet housing on the bracket and rethread the nuts to secure.
14
Reattach the wire and boot to the spark plug and your generator should be ready for use.
