Step By Step Instructions

Before you replace the handle on your chainsaw first make sure the engine has cooled and that the on-off switch is in the “off” position.

Now use a t-20 torx bit screwdriver to remove the mounting screw securing the trigger handle cover.

Use a punch and hammer to release the retaining pins to fully detach the cover.

Remove the trigger from the throttle linkage.

Use a t-25 torx bit screwdriver to unthread the screws securing the handle springs to the engine housing.

Unthread the two bottom screws first.

Be aware you may need to dislodge the handle to access the top screw.

Next, use the t-20 torx bit screwdriver to remove the screw securing the safety strap to completely detach the old handle.

Prepare the new handle for installation by transferring the springs and bumpers from the old handle to the new one.

You can use the t-25 torx bit screwdriver to remove and replace the screws securing the springs.

Because the model number label is attached to the old handle, you may want to copy down the model and serial numbers before discarding the old part.

Install the new handle on the chainsaw by first securing the safety strap with the screw.

Now insert the fine-thread screw through the spring at the top of the engine.

Thread and tighten to secure.

Push the bumpers into position.

You can now feed the bottom screws through the springs, then thread and tighten.

With the handle secured, replace the trigger by hooking it onto the throttle linkage.

Next, reposition the lockout lever on the handle cover post if necessary.

Align the spring in the groove on the lever.

Now hook the spring on the trigger as you align the trigger on the post.

Hold the lockout lever down as you realign the handle cover and snap the cover into place.

Rethread the mounting screw to secure.
