Tools needed: 13mm socket, large flat-head screwdriver, hammer, small flat-head screwdriver, T-15 Torx bit screwdriver, pliers

Step By Step Instructions

Before you replace the spark arrestor in your chainsaw first make sure the engine and muffler have cooled and that the on-off switch is in the “off” position.

Now unthread the knob securing the air filter cover and pull the cover off.

Release the retaining bar securing the air filter and pull the filter out.

Use a t-25 torx bit screwdriver to remove the screws securing the engine cover.

Confirm that the chain brake is engaged then pull the cover off.

Now use a t-20 torx bit screwdriver to remove the screw securing the spark arrestor and pull out the old arrestor.

Install the new spark arrestor by sliding it into place in the muffler.

Replace the screw to secure.

Next, realign the engine cover – you can remove the wire and boot from the spark plug to make this easier.

Replace the screws to secure the cover.

Replace the air filter in the housing and secure it with the retaining bar.

Realign the cover and rethread the knob to secure.
13
With the repair completed turn the on-off switch to the “on” position and your chainsaw should be ready for use.
