Step By Step Instructions

Before you replace the ratchet pawl spring in your leaf blower make sure the engine has cooled and the on-off switch is in the “off” position.

Use a t-25 torx bit screwdriver to unthread the screws securing the fuel tank support plate.

Pull the plate off then remove the top screws securing the recoil starter.

Pull the starter free.

Now use a large flat-head screwdriver to help pry out the ratchet pawl.

Slide off the old spring if still intact.

Install the new ratchet pawl spring by sliding it over the pawl.

Now hold the spring tight against the pawl as you insert the pawl into the holder.

Reposition the recoil starter on the engine housing.

Rethread and tighten the screws at the top.

Realign the support plate and secure it with the screws.

With the repair completed turn the on-off switch to the “on” position and your leaf blower should be ready for use.
