All of the information in this muffler replacement video is applicable to the following brands: Echo Tools used: 3/4” socket, 5mm hex head screwdriver, T25 Torx bit screwdriver Step-By-Step Instructions 1 Before you replace the muffler on your leaf blower make sure the engine and muffler have cooled and the on-off switch is in the “off” position. 2 Remove the wire and boot from the spark plug. 3 Use a 3/4 inch socket or spark plug wrench to help loosen and remove the plug. 4 Now use a t-25 torx bit screwdriver to unthread the mounting screws securing the engine cover. 5 With the screws removed, carefully detach the cover. 6 Remove the blower tube from the housing then use a 5mm hex head screwdriver to unthread the muffler mounting bolts. 7 With the bolts removed, pull off the old muffler assembly. 8 Prepare the new muffler for installation by transferring the exhaust guide and spark arrestor from the old muffler to the new one. 9 To do this, use a t-25 torx bit screwdriver to unthread the screws securing the guide and arrestor assembly. 10 Remove the assembly components. 11 Align the spark arrestor on the new muffler. 12 Position the exhaust deflector and guide then align the cover. 13 Thread and tighten the screws to secure. 14 Align the heat shield on the muffler and insert the mounting bolts – if necessary, use a new heat shield. 15 Position the assembly on the engine. 16 Thread and tighten the mounting bolts to secure. 17 Reinstall the blower tube. 18 Confirm that the throttle linkage is in place then realign the engine cover. 19 Replace the mounting screws to secure the cover. 20 Rethread the spark plug. 21 Be careful not to strip the threads by over-tightening. 22 Reattach the wire and boot to the plug. 23 With the new muffler installed turn the on-off switch to the “on” position and your leaf blower should be ready for use.
