All of the information in this latch actuator replacement video is applicable to the following brands: Whirlpool, Amana, Maytag, Ikea, KitchenAid, Estate, Jenn Air
Tools used: Phillips head screwdriver, T10 Torx bit screwdriver, small flat-head screwdriver

Step By Step Instructions

1
To replace an interlock cam-plate in your microwave oven first unplug the power cord.
2
Now use a phillips-head screwdriver to unthread the screws securing the grill.
3
Pull the grill forward from the top to remove.
4
Open the oven door and remove the mounting screw securing the control panel.
5
Lift the control panel up to detach.
6
Note the orientation of the wires connected to the control board then depress the locking tabs, if necessary, to disconnect the wires.
7
Free the hinge tab from the front panel and remove the screw and washer securing the grounding wire so you can set the control panel assembly aside.
8
Next, remove the screws securing the plastic control panel backing.
9
Detach the control board wires from the channel, release the sensor wire and set the backing aside.
10
If you’re replacing the cam-plate on the upper interlock support, you will need to detach the support.
11
To do this, use a t-10 torx bit screwdriver to remove the screw securing the support.
12
Use a small flat-head screwdriver to depress the cam-plate then lift the support up to detach it from the front panel.
13
Remove the tension spring and rotate the old cam-plate counter-clockwise to remove.
14
Install the new interlock cam-plate by aligning it on the support and rotating it clockwise to secure.
15
Replace the tension spring by inserting the l-shaped end into the cam-plate and the hooked end into the support.
16
If applicable, reposition the interlock support on the front panel and snap it into place.
17
Thread the screw to secure.
18
Reattach the sensor wire to the control panel backing then align the wire and the control board wires in the respective channels.
19
Reposition the backing and replace the screws to secure.
20
Reinstall the control panel by first securing the grounding wire with the screw and washer.
21
Insert the hinge tab into the front panel and reconnect the remaining wires to the appropriate terminals on the board.
22
Insert the control panel tabs into the front panel slots and push the panel down.
23
Replace the mounting screw to secure.
24
Realign the grill and snap it into place then rethread the screws to secure.
25
With the repair completed, plug the power cord back in and your microwave oven should be ready for use.
