Before you replace the blade adapter on your lawn mower first make sure the engine has cooled.

Next, you should remove the wire and boot from the spark plug to prevent the engine from accidentally starting.

Tip the lawn mower back on its handle assembly and weight it down.

Use a piece of wood or a comparable sturdy object to hold the cutting blade in place then use a 5/8th inch socket and strike it with a mallet to help loosen the mounting bolt.

Unthread the bolt and remove the blade support and blade.

You can use the mallet or a gear puller to help remove the old blade adapter.

Install the new blade adapter by aligning the key in the adapter with the slot in the crankshaft and pushing the adapter into place.

Position the blade on the adapter with the sharp edge facing away from the mower deck.

Align the support and rethread the mounting bolt.

Secure the blade and use a torque wrench to torque the bolt between 40 and 50 foot pounds.

Remove the weight and return the mower to its upright position.

With the repair completed reattach the wire and boot to the spark plug and your lawn mower should be ready for use.
