All of the information for this wheel plate replacement video is applicable to the following brands: Honda Tools needed: 12mm socket, snap ring pliers, 12mm wrench Step-By-Step Instructions 1 Before you replace the left rear wheel adjustment plate on your lawn mower first make sure the engine has cooled. 2 Next, you should remove the wire and boot from the spark plug to prevent the engine from accidentally starting and close the fuel valve. 3 We recommend performing this procedure with little or no fuel in the tank. 4 Now lift up the rear of the mower and support it. 5 Use a 12mm socket to unthread the bolt securing the left rear wheel and remove the wheel. 6 Use snap ring pliers to remove the snap ring securing the pinion gear. 7 Remove the washer and note the orientation of the pinion gear then slide off the gear. 8 Remove the dust cover and slide off the small spacer washer. 9 Release the snap ring securing the large spacer washer and remove it along with the flat washer. 10 Now carefully tip the mower on its side with the fuel tank facing up. 11 Release the large snap ring securing the wheel support assembly and slide off the assembly. 12 Use a 12mm wrench to unthread the mounting nuts securing the adjustment plate. 14 Install the new adjustment plate by positioning it on the frame. 15 Thread and tighten the mounting nuts to secure – consider using a towel to prevent the nuts from accidentally falling into the shroud. 16 Confirm that the adjuster arm is positioned on the support with the tab facing up. 17 Position the wheel support assembly on the axle with the adjuster arm disengaged from the plate. 18 Slide the washer up and secure the large snap ring. 19 Return the adjuster arm to the desired position. 20 You can now return the mower to its upright position and support it. 21 Make sure the axle is fully extended through the support. 22 Slide on the large spacer washer followed by the flat washer. 23 Replace the snap ring and slide on the small spacer washer. 24 Replace the dust cover. 25 Confirm that the ratchet return spring is intact in the axle then insert the ratchet key. 26 Hold the key in place as you properly align the pinion gear. 27 Slide on the washer and secure the assembly with the snap ring. 28 Insert the mounting bolt through the wheel and slide on the wave washer with the curved edge facing outward followed by the flat washer. 29 Position the dust cover align the wheel assembly then thread and tighten the mounting bolt to secure. 30 With the repair completed reattach the wire and boot to the spark plug open the fuel valve refill the fuel tank and your lawn mower should be ready for use.
