Tools needed: pliers, needle nose pliers, hacksaw
Before you replace the trail shield shaft on your lawn mower remove the grass bag if applicable.
Use pliers to secure the end of the shaft and a hack saw to cut off the crimped end.
Use needle-nose pliers to pull off the retainer clip.
You can now slide out the old shaft.
Install the new trail shield shaft by first repositioning the trail shield within the frame.
Now insert the new shaft through the right side to hold the shield in place.
We recommend using a new retainer clip to secure the shaft.
