Step By Step Instructions

As with any repair, be sure you unplug the appliance before beginning.

Your first step is to open the refrigerator door and remove the mounting screws to release the damper housing and the control panel assembly.

Next, disconnect the control panel’s main wire harness.

Pull the light switch wire away from the housing and disconnect.

Slide the freezer thermistor or capillary tube out of the channel and remove the damper housing and control panel assembly from the refrigerator.

Now, remove any tape securing the old damper control and pull the damper control away from the housing.

Be aware this may require some effort.

Install the new air damper control by first transferring the wires from the old component to the new one.

Route the freezer thermistor wire or capillary tube alongside the new component and secure with tape.

Peel off the adhesive backing and position the new damper control into the housing.

Return the assembly to the refrigerator and slide the freezer thermistor or capillary tube back into the channel.
12
Reconnect the light switch wire and snap it back into the housing.
13
Reconnect the control panel’s main wire harness.
14
Position the damper housing and control panel assembly and secure the mounting screws.
15
You’re now ready to plug the appliance back in to make sure it’s functioning properly.
