Step By Step Instructions

As with any repair, be sure you unplug the appliance before beginning.

Your first step is to take off the retaining clips and remove the freezer shelving drawers and drawer rails.

Next, remove the screws to release the freezer’s rear interior panel or panels.

Unclip the ground wire from the drain trough as well as the heater wires.
5
Loosen the mounting screw securing the drain trough to the cabinet.
6
Remove the evaporator bracket screw.
7
Now drill out the rivet securing the bracket.
8
Remove the drain trough by pulling it up off the mounting screw.
9
Slide the trough off the evaporator coils.
10
Use caution not to damage the refrigerant lines.

Remove the retaining clamp holding the heater in place.

Now pull the old heater out from the bottom of the evaporator.

Be aware this may require some effort.

You’re now ready to install the new defrost heater.

Slide the new heater up into the evaporator and secure it with the retaining clamp.

Slide the drain trough back onto the evaporator coils and gently move the assembly back into position hooking it onto the mounting screw.

Again, be careful not to damage the refrigerant lines.

Secure the evaporator bracket screw.

Tighten the mounting screw to secure the trough to the main back panel.

Reattach the heater wires and the ground wire.

Replace the rear interior panel or panels and secure the screws.

Replace the drawer rails drawers and shelving and use the retaining clips to secure.

You’re now ready to plug the appliance back in to make sure it’s functioning properly.
