All of the information for this refrigerator filter base replacement video is applicable to the following brands: Arctic Air, Crosley, Electrolux, Frigidaire, Gibson, Kelvinator, Tappan, Westinghouse Tools needed: small wrench, flat head screwdriver, phillips head screwdriver Step-By-Step Instructions 1 Before you replace the water filter base in your refrigerator be sure to unplug the power cord. 2 Push the end of the water filter in to detach the filter from the housing. 3 Use a large flat-head screwdriver to help pry off the filter housing cover. 4 Using a phillips-head screwdriver or a number two square drive bit, unthread the screw securing the lower filter housing. 5 Slide the lower filter housing forward to remove. 6 Note the orientation of the water filter input and output tubes then use a small wrench to depress the locking rings to release the tubes from the ports – be prepared for some water to spill. 7 Use a quarter-inch socket or nut driver to unthread the screws securing the upper housing and remove the housing. 8 Use the phillips-head screwdriver or the square drive bit to unthread the mounting screws securing the filter base to the housing. 9 Remove the old filter base. 10 Install the new water filter base by aligning it in the upper housing. 11 Thread and tighten the screws to secure. 12 Feed the water tubes through the upper housing reposition the housing and secure it with the screws. 13 Fully insert the water tubes into the appropriate ports. 14 Reposition the lower filter housing and secure it with the screw. 16 Reinstall the water filter by aligning it in the housing then push firmly until it locks into place. 17 With the repair completed plug the power cord back in and your refrigerator should be ready for use.
