Step-By-Step Instructions1
Before you begin the repair, make sure the mower’s engine has cooled and remove the wire and boot from the spark plug.

If you’re replacing a bearing in a front wheel, your first step is to use an appropriate-sized socket to remove the mounting bolt and washer securing the wheel and pull the wheel off.
3
If you’re replacing a bearing in a rear wheel lift up the mower and support it with a wood block or comparable sturdy object.
4
Then use the socket to remove the mounting bolt securing the wheel and pull the wheel off.
5
Next, insert a small flathead screwdriver into the bearing and use a rubber mallet to free the old bearing from the wheel.
6
Install the new bearing by positioning the bearing in the wheel then use the mallet to fully seat it.
7
Reinstall the front wheel by first inserting the bolt and washer then align the wheel on the height adjustment bracket and secure the bolt.
8
Make sure the wheel spins freely.
9
If working with the rear wheel, slide the wheel onto the axel and align the gears then reinstall the bolt and tighten.
10
Again, make sure the wheel turns freely then remove the support.

You can now reattach the spark plug wire and boot.
