Before you begin the repair, make sure the engine has cooled remove the wire and boot from the spark plug and turn the fuel valve off

Your first step is to remove the starter rope from the rope guide.

Next, remove the nuts securing the recoil starter to the mounting bolts and pull the old starter off.

Install the new recoil starter by first hooking the new starter rope onto the rope guide.

Align the starter itself on the mounting bolts and secure the nuts.

Turn the fuel valve back on and reattach the spark plug wire and boot.
