Step By Step Instructions

Before you begin this repair, make sure the engine has cooled remove the wire and boot from each spark plug

Then loosen the bolts securing the battery cables and disconnect them; black first, then red.

Use a rag to clean any debris around the oil filter.

Now, use a wrench or large pliers to turn the old oil filter counter-clockwise to remove. Be aware that some oil will spill out.

Prepare the new oil filter for installation by applying a light coat of oil on the sealing gasket.

Now thread the new filter clockwise onto the engine sump.

When the gasket makes contact with the sump, tighten it another two-thirds of a turn.

With the new filter in place, you can now reconnect the battery cables red first, then black.

Tighten the bolts and reattach the wire and boot to each spark plug.

Start the engine for approximately one minute to pressurize the oil system.

Then turn off the engine and check the dipstick to ensure a proper oil level.

Add oil as necessary then secure the dipstick.
