Step 2: Perform this procedure with little or no fuel in the tank.

Step 4: Use a T-27 Torx bit to unthread the four screws securing the fuel tank retainer.

Step 6: Unthread the nine screws securing the two halves of the blower housing.

Step 7: Detach the cable and static discharge wire from the housing retaining clip.

Step 8: Unthread the screw to fully release the discharge wire from the engine.

Step 9: Separate the two halves of the blower housing.

Step 10: Detach the elbow blower tube and set the frame upright.

Step 11: Unsnap the foam pad.

Step 12: Unthread the four screws securing the fan cover.

Step 13: Unthread the safety strap screw to fully release the cover.

Step 14: Use pliers to depress the retaining clips at the top and bottom of the frame to detach the air intake grid.

Step 15: Use a quarter-inch deep-well socket to release the side retaining tabs to fully remove the old grid.

Step 16: Install the new air intake grid by aligning the tabs and clips then snap the grid into position.

Step 17: Reinstall the fan cover by first threading the screw to secure the safety strap to the cover.

Step 18: Reposition the cover and thread the four screws.

Step 19: Snap the foam pad into place.

Step 20: Lay the frame back down and position the elbow blower tube.

Step 21: Rejoin the two halves of the blower housing.

Step 22: Rethread the screw to secure the static discharge wire to the engine.

Step 23: Secure the discharge wire and the cable in the housing retaining clip.

Step 24: Rethread all of the screws to secure the two halves of the blower housing.

Step 25: Realign the retainer on the fuel tank then reposition the assembly on the frame.
