All of the information in this replacement video is applicable to the following brands: Ryobi Step-By-Step Instructions 1 Ryobi String Trimmer - Model RY253SS 2 String Trimmer On/Off Switch Replacement 4 "You will need a T-20 Torx bit and a small flat-head screwdriver for this procedure (in addition, a clamp may be helpful)." 6 "Before you begin, confirm the engine has cooled." 7 Be sure to perform this procedure with little to no fuel in the tank. 8 "Using a T-20 Torx bit, unthread the four screws securing the throttle housing." 9 "Separate the two halves of the housing and remove the throttle trigger, spring, and lockout lever." 10 Release the switch wires from the grooves in the housing and disconnect the wires from the switch. 11 You can now use a small flat-head screwdriver to depress the retaining tabs to detach the old switch from the housing. 12 Install the new on/off switch by aligning it in the housing and snapping it into place. 13 Connect the wires to the terminals. 14 Secure the wires in the housing grooves. 15 Reposition the lower housing and insert the throttle cable in the groove. 16 You can use a clamp to hold the housing in place as you reinsert the throttle cable into the trigger. 17 "Realign the spring, then align the trigger so the end of the spring inserts into the hole in the trigger." 18 "Reposition the lockout lever, then realign the two halves of the housing." 19 Rethread the screws to hold the assembly together. 20 Refill the fuel tank if necessary. 21 Congrats!
