"You will need a small flat-head screwdriver, "

Align the slot in the washer with the slot in the gear case and insert a small flat-head screwdriver.

You can now rotate the trimmer head clockwise to detach the head and remove the old washer.

"Install the new flanged washer by aligning it on the head, then thread the head on counter-clockwise."

"Align the slots, insert the screwdriver, then rotate the head to lock it into place."
