This video provides step-by-step repair instructions for replacing the control board on a GE top-loading washing machine. The most common reason for replacing the control board is when none of the control board switches, buttons, or knobs are responding.

Your first step is to remove all of the control panel knobs. You can use string or wire to help pry them off.
Next, remove the screws at the back of the control panel.
Slide the panel to the side to detach it from the main top.
Detach the wires from the old control board.
Remove the mounting screws and bracket securing the old control board and switches.
Pull the old control board and switches off the control panel and set them aside.
Install the new control board and switches by first transferring the jumper plug from the old control board to the new one.
Position the new board and switches in the control panel and secure with the mounting screws and bracket.
Connect the wires to the new board.
Reposition the control panel by inserting the tabs into the slots in the main top and slide the panel to the side to lock it into place.
Replace the screws to secure the control panel.
Replace all of the switch knobs by aligning them on the switch stems and pushing into place.
You’re now ready to plug the power cord back in and confirm that the appliance is functioning properly.
