This video provides step-by-step instructions for replacing the door catch on Whirlpool electric dryers. The most common reason for replacing the door catch is when the dryer door won’t stay shut.
All the information in this door catch replacement video is applicable to the following brands:
Kenmore, Whirlpool, KitchenAid, Roper, Estate, Maytag, Crosley, Inglis, Amana, Admiral
Tools used: Phillips head screwdriver, pliers
Your first step is to remove the hinge screws to detach the dryer door.
Next, remove all screws from the outside of the door and split the door panels apart to access the catch.
If still intact, use pliers to squeeze the old door catch spring and push the catch through the front of the door panel.
Install the new door catch by snapping it into position.
Join the two door panels together and secure all the screws.
Replace the door on the hinges and reinstall the hinge screws.
