All of the information for this dryer drum replacement video is applicable to the following brands: LG, Kenmore Step-By-Step Instructions 1 As with any repair, you should unplug the appliance before beginning. 2 To replace the drum on your dryer, first remove the screws securing the main top to the cabinet. 3 Slide the top back and lift up to remove. 4 Next, uninstall the screws securing the control panel. 5 Now lift up the tabs to detach the control panel from the support bracket and move it out of the way. 6 Remove the screws securing the support bracket then lift the bracket up. 7 Detach the door switch wire harness remove the wire from the retainer and set the bracket aside. 8 Open the dryer door and remove the lower two screws to release the front panel. 9 Pull the panel forward and lift up to remove. 10 Disconnect the light switch wire harness and moisture sensor wire harness. 11 Remove the mounting bracket screws and the screw securing the duct housing to the blower assembly. 12 Now lift the front bulkhead up and pull it forward to remove. 13 Reach under the drum and push the idler pulley to release the tension on the belt and pull the belt off of the motor pulley. 14 You can use the belt to help lift out the old drum. 15 You’re now ready to install the new drum. 16 First slide the belt over the drum, ribbed-side down then position the drum on the rear rollers. 17 Loop the belt around the idler and motor pulleys in a zig-zag formation. 18 Now, rotate the drum to help align the belt. 19 Replace the front bulkhead by inserting the bracket tabs into the slots in the side panels and aligning the drum on the front rollers. 20 Secure the bulkhead by replacing the bracket screws and the duct housing screw. 21 Reconnect the moisture sensor wire harness and the light switch wire harness. 22 Replace the front panel by aligning the slots in the panel with the tabs on the frame. 23 Position the panel open the door and replace the screws to secure. 24 Reposition the support bracket by inserting the tabs into the slots in the side panels. 25 Reattach the door switch wire harness and secure the wire in the retainer. 26 Replace all of the screws. 27 Reposition the control panel and snap it into place. 29 Align the main top on the cabinet then push forward. 30 Secure the screws in the back. 31 You’re now ready to plug the power cord back in and confirm that the dryer is functioning properly.
