All of the information in this igniter replacement video is applicable to the following brands: Kenmore, Whirlpool, KitchenAid, Maytag, Roper, Estate, Crosley, Inglis, Amana, Admiral Tools used: Hex socket, flat-head screwdriver, Phillips head screwdriver, putty knife Step-By-Step Instructions 1 As with any repair, be sure you unplug the appliance before beginning. 2 Your first step is to pull out the lint screen. and remove the two screws near the opening. 3 Next, insert a putty knife under the front of the main top to release the spring clips then rotate the top up and back. 4 Disconnect the door switch wires and remove the top front panel screws. 5 Now, lift the panel up and out. 6 If your model has two front panels 7 Use a flathead screwdriver to release the clips above the lower panel to remove it. 8 Now, loosen the two screws at the bottom of the upper panel and lift the panel off. 9 Depress the pulley to release the belt tension and unthread the belt from the pulley and motor shaft. 10 Use the belt to lift out the drum. 11 The igniter is located on the burner tube. 12 Disconnect the wires and loosen the mounting screw to release the old igniter. 13 When handling the new igniter be careful not to touch the element itself. 14 Carefully slide the new igniter into the slot and secure it with the mounting screw. 15 Reconnect the wire connector. 16 Next, replace the drum by aligning its rim on the two rear rollers and loop the belt around the tension pulley and motor shaft in a “zig-zag” formation. 17 Rotate the drum to help align the belt. 18 You’re now ready to reinstall the front panel or panels. 19 If your model has a solid front panel, align the slots in the panel with the two retainer clips. 20 Line up the drum with the seal on the front panel and press the panel down until it locks into position. 21 If your model has two panels, align the slots in the upper panel with the screws while lining up the drum. 22 Tighten the screws and replace the lower panel by snapping it into position. 23 Now, reinstall the two screws on top and reconnect the door switch wires. 24 Rotate the main top back into place and press down on the front to secure the spring clips. 25 Install the two screws at the lint screen opening and replace the lint screen. 26 You’re now ready to plug the appliance back in to make sure it’s functioning properly.
