Step-By-Step Instructions1
To make it easier to replace the grass deflector pin retainer on your riding mower, we recommend removing the deflector first.
2
Before you do this, make sure the ignition switch is in the “off” position and the key has been removed.
3
Confirm that the mower deck is at its lowest position.
4
Now lift up the deflector and support the bottom of the mounting bolts as you use a half-inch socket to unthread the nuts.
5
Remove the bolts and pull the deflector free.
6
Use vice-grip pliers to secure the pin as you use a large flat-head screwdriver to pry the old retainer off.
7
You’re now ready to install the new pin retainer.
8
Support the pin and use a 7/16th inch socket and hammer to fully seat the new retainer.
9
Insert a mounting bolt through the bottom of the mower deck then reposition the deflector.
10
Thread a nut to secure the bolt.
11
Insert the second mounting bolt then support the bolts as you finish threading the nuts and tighten.
