Step-By-Step Instructions1
Before you replace the ignition coil on your engine, make sure the engine has cooled, the ignition switch is in the off position, and the key has been removed if applicable.

If necessary, disconnect the headlight wire harness.

Then, lift up the hood or engine cover and detach it.

Now, rotate the air filter cover retaining knobs counterclockwise and pull off the cover.

Lift out the air filter.

Use a quarter-inch socket or nut driver to unthread the screw inside the filter housing.

Now, use a 3/8 inch socket or wrench to unthread the four blower housing mounting bolts.

Detach the oil drain tube and lift off the blower housing.

Next, remove the wire and boot from the spark plug and feed it under the mounting bracket.

Make sure the flywheel magnet is rotated out of the way.

Then, use a 5/16 inch socket or nut driver to remove the ignition coil mounting screws.

Detach the grounding wire to fully release the old coil.

Prepare the new ignition coil for installation by transferring the boot from the old spark plug wire to the new one.

Now, connect the grounding wire to the new ignition coil and align the coil on the engine.

Slide the provided washers onto the mounting screws, then thread the screws loosely.

Pull the coil back and tighten the screws.

Rotate the flywheel so the magnet aligns with the coil, then insert the provided card.

Loosen the screws to align the coil the correct distance from the flywheel.

Retighten the screws and remove the card.

Feed the spark plug wire under the mounting bracket and attach the boot to the spark plug.

Reposition the blower housing.

Make sure the housing is properly seated on the air diverter.

Thread and tighten the mounting bolts to secure the housing.

The longer bolts go in the back.

Replace the screw in the filter housing.

Reposition the air filter, realign the cover, and rotate the retaining knobs clockwise to secure.

Reattach the oil drain tube to the blower housing.

Reinstall the hood or engine cover and reconnect the headlight wire harness if applicable.
